Abeyance (We Gon’ Be Alright) Episōdo 01, Yokohama Triennale 2020

A rotating set of banners unfurl off the side of a building in downtown Hong Kong as part of the Episōdo 01 Afterparty of the Episōdo Series: Deliberation for Discursive Justice, Yokohama Triennale 2020. Featuring both text and altered photographic imagery from another sea, and placed in an alternate port city, these banners provoke enigmatic, terse, and optimistic statements. The title nods to the recent book written by Jeff Chang in 2017, noting the complexity of the world’s ongoing social movements.
